How to influence policy making in a political world


These slides were presented by Quentin Grafton at the Public Policy and Societal Impact Hub’s Policy Masterclass on 7 November 2019, How to influence policy making in a political world. The Masterclass included presentations and a Q&A with:

  • ways to strengthen working relationships with government
  • how to best engage with policy-making community 
  • other observations working in the government /Minister’s office

Quentin Grafton is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (FASSA) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He is Professor of Economics at ANU. He has experience in the Australian Public Service as the inaugural Chief Economist and Executive Director of the Australian Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics (2011-2013).  Previously, Quentin served as Chair of the Marine Estate Expert Knowledge Panel of New South Wales (2014-18), Chair of the International Expert Group on Geothermal Energy (2013-14) and Chair of the Social and Economics Reference Panel of the Murray-Darling Basin Commission (2008-2009).
